somewhere in Australia
Fonte: www.transworldsurf.com
" Last month senior photographer Tim Jones sent us an e-mail with some jpegs that nearly made us poop our pants. The images were from a session Jones bagged with Aussie groms Paul Morgan and Byron Bartlett getting humongous barrels at what looks like a mix between Teahupo’s and Pipeline. When he told us it was in Australia, we could hardly believe it.
As if the death pits don’t look scary enough, what the photos don’t show is a rocky headland that juts into the ocean right in front of the bowl. So if you don’t make the wave, there’s a good chance you’ll be banged up against the rocks. Morgan and Bartlett towed in (without straps) to a handful of death-defying bombs and, thankfully, made it out unscathed. Maybe it was Jones’ pre-session pep talk: “In the boat, I told them, ‘Okay, there’s no first aid out here. You guys are smart enough to know what waves to go on, but there’s no room for error.’”
The next obvious question is, “Where, exactly, is this beast?” We asked Tim if he was interested in telling us. “Nope, not really,” he says. “This is a wave that’ll never be crowded because it’s nearly impossible to paddle in to it, and it probably only works five or six times a year.” Besides, even if we told you, would you really want to drop in?
